ABSTRACT
The characteristic structural organization of mitochondria is the product synthesis macromolecules within together with import proteins and lipids synthesized outside organelle. Synthetic processes are required for mitochondrial proliferation might also facilitate growth pre-existing mitochondria. Recent evidence indicates that these events regulated in a complex way by several agonists environmental conditions, through activation specific signaling pathways transcription factors. A newly discovered role this organelle retrograde intracellular back to nucleus has emerged. This likely have far-reaching implications development, aging, disease adaptation. Generation nitric oxide (NO) appears be an important player processes, possibly acting as unifying molecular switch trigger whole biogenesis process. High levels NO acutely inhibit cell respiration binding cytochrome c oxidase. Conversely, chronic, smaller increases stimulate diverse types. NO-induced seems linked differentiation normal tumor cells, well aging.
