ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT The nuclear lamina forms a protein mesh that underlies the membrane. In most mammalian cells it contains intermediate filament proteins, lamins A, B and C. As their name indicates, are generally thought to be confined periphery. We now show they also form part of diffuse skeleton ramifies throughout interior nucleus. Unlike peripheral counterparts, these internal buried in dense chromatin so inaccessible antibodies, but accessibility can increased by removing chromatin. Knobs nodes on an then immunola-belled using fluorescein- or gold-conjugated anti-lamin A antibodies. These results suggest misnamed as found internally.
