ABSTRACT
BACKGROUND:This single-center study analyzed distinctions between lung transplants performed in the Department of Cardiac and Vascular surgery University Clinical Center Gdańsk, Poland before during COVID-19 pandemic. MATERIAL AND METHODS:There were 189 patients who underwent qualification procedure to transplantation Surgery years 2019 2020. The control group consisted 12 transplanted 2019, 16 RESULTS:During process was 102 with pulmonary end-stage diseases. In 2020, despite 3-month lockdown related organizational changes hospital, 87 processes performed. mortality rate on waiting list 2020 14.3% (6 died), also (4 died). Donor qualifications according ISHLT criteria. distribution donors both similar. There no relationship geographic area residence source donors. all had double-lung transplant. 11 transplant 5 single-lung difference ventilation time PGD aside from a shorter ICU stay CONCLUSIONS:Lung relatively well-conducted continued obstacles
