ABSTRACT
BACKGROUND Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is the predominant histological type of lung cancer with high morbidity and mortality. Ferroptosis regarded as a new pattern programmed cell death concerned progression characterized by lipid peroxidation. Nevertheless, prognostic role ferroptosis-related genes for LUAD warrant to be explored. MATERIAL AND METHODS RNA sequencing relevant clinical patient data were obtained from public-access databanks. A model was constructed through LASSO Cox regression in genome atlas cohort. The diagnostic value further evaluated gene expression omnibus RESULTS Most (69.9%) differentially expressed between tumor adjacent non-cancerous tissues. 43 showed close association prognosis patients (adjusted p-value <0.05). An 18-gene signature built applied assign into vs low-risk groups. Compared high-risk group, defined group suffered significantly prolonged OS. Both uni- multivariate analyses demonstrated that signature-based score served crucial influencing OS (hazard ratio >1, p<0.001). immunity-related signaling pathway enriched functional analysis infiltration immune cells great difference CONCLUSIONS predictive could prediction LUAD. Targeting ferroptosis possible curative strategy against LUAD, immunomodulation may one potential mechanisms.
