Impact of COVID-19 lockdown on Retinal Surgeries

ABSTRACT
Objectives: To determine the frequency and severity of surgical Vitreo-Retinal diseases during COVID-19 lockdown period (LP) compare it with same last year.
 Methods: Single hospital based retrospective Cohort Study. Data patients that underwent retinal surgeries LP i.e., 23-03-2020 till 23-06-2020 year 23-03-2019 23-06-2019 was analyzed.
 Results: One hundred thirty-six eyes 105 were included. Among these eyes, 48 (35.3%) operated while 88 (64.7%) time year. A decline 45.5% (p=0.023) observed in LP. Mean age 43.2 ± 20.3 years compared to 48.4 17.9 There reduction for Diabetic Tractional Retinal Detachment (11.4% vs 4.2% LP, p=0.166), Vitreous hemorrhage (10.2% 8.3% p=0.04), Full thickness macular hole (3.4% 0% LP) Epiretinal membrane (12.5% LP). While Rhegmatogenous detachment (27.3% 58.3% p<0.001) among other disorders had a higher proportion LP.
 Conclusion: The is indicative complex pathologies presenting later more advanced disease. However, earlier presentation an increase trend RRD shows positive impact free on health concerns our population.
