Presumptive injection-site sarcoma in a white tiger (Panthera tigris tigris): A case report

ABSTRACT
A 6-year-old female White Tiger (Panthera Tigris Tigris) was presented with a history of recurrent ulcerating mass on the right lumbar wall which initially, removed by surgery one year before presentation. Cytological and histological findings were consistent cutaneous injection site sarcomas. Immunohistochemistry results revealed that neoplastic cells strongly positive for vimentin weakly alpha-smooth muscle actin (SMA), but negative Cytokeratin AE1/AE3, s100, Desmin. Positive staining SMA is myofibroblast reactivity reflects continuous inflammatory response seen in feline injection-site Feline sarcomas are most serious adverse effect following vaccine or some other pharmaceutical substances should be considered differential diagnosis skin swelling sites Felidae family. Limited data available these tumors animals outside domesticated cats. To best our knowledge, there exists no published information sarcoma tigers. Similar to domestic felids, this case highlights importance considerations management options vaccination schedules reduction risk wild felids.
