ABSTRACT
Temperature and salinity time series provided by three POSEIDON monitoring stations (buoys) are examined in order to study the seasonal interannual variability of water mass characteristics. The sites at Athos (North Aegean Sea), E1M3A (Central Cretan Sea) Pylos (Eastern Ionian were chosen, as these buoys provide measurements various depths, while they represent 3 major basins respectively. T S characteristics reveals important changes highlights particular each basin. Dense production Northern is found be hindered presence surface Black Sea Water (BSW) mass. On other hand, intermediate shown ventilated during winter season. A significant temperature increase has been monitored over both Central Eastern Seas starting from middle 2008 2009 This could possibly attributed masses Mediterranean, without ruling out possibility exchanges between two basins.
