ABSTRACT
Accurate evaluation of morphological and physiological traits is critical for selection wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) cultivars exhibiting high yield, which stable over different growing conditions. In order to use index based on grain quality drought tolerance in wheat, a set 145 CIMMYT Wheat Physiological Germplasm Screening Nursery lines seven local spring varieties were phenotyped evaluated yield under two irrigation regimes during the 2011 2012 seasons Xinjiang, China. The results showed that drought-stress significantly increased canopy temperature but reduced weight per spike, normalized difference vegetation at flowering filling stages, chlorophyll content stage, plumpness, number thousand-grain weight, plant height. Grain height plumpness explained 61.8% total phenotypic variation no-stress conditions, where they three principal factors most closely related yield. Under affecting contributed 44.8% Finally, ten genotypes, including varieties, 'Xinchun 11', 23' 29', with appropriate both conditions years trials, identified can be recommended as core parents breeding
