ABSTRACT
Root system development is an important target for improving yield in rice. Active roots that can take up nutrients more efficiently are essential grain yield. In this study, we performed quantitative trait locus (QTL) analyses using 215 recombinant inbred lines derived from a cross between Xieqingzao B (XB), maintainer line with short and R9308, restorer long roots. Only QTLs associated root length were mapped on chromosomes 7. The QTL, named qRL7, was located markers RM3859 RM214 chromosome 7 explained 18.14–18.36% of the total phenotypic variance evaluated across two years. Fine mapping qRL7 eight BC3F3 QTL to InDel11 InDel17, which delimit 657.35 kb interval reference cultivar Nipponbare. To determine genotype classes these recombinants, lengths their BC3F4 progeny investigated, result showed plays crucial role length. results study will increase our understanding genetic factors controlling architecture, help rice breeders breed varieties deep, strong vigorous systems.
