ABSTRACT
Abstract Ombrocharis is the only incertae sedis genus within Lamiaceae that has not been included in a published molecular phylogenetic study. Here, we adopt two‐step approach to resolve placement of genus. Initially, subfamilial affiliation was determined based on combined ndhF and rbcL dataset covering all seven subfamilies Lamiaceae. Results show member Nepetoideae, also supported by its hexacolpate pollen grains. In second set analyses, two nrDNA (ITS, ETS) four cpDNA ( ycf1 , rps15‐ycf1 trnL‐F rpl32‐trnL ) markers were used explore position Nepetoideae. Our results demonstrate another monotypic genus, Perillula form clade sister remaining genera tribe Elsholtzieae. other taxa Elsholtzieae share divergent stamens, weakly 2‐lipped corolla, an asymmetric disc with elongate anterior lobe, but it unclear whether these features are apomorphic. This study represents both most comprehensive analysis date include The monophyly (including well supported, there weak support for as rest Additionally, our do merging Keiskea Collinsonia Elsholtzia may be polyphyletic.
