ABSTRACT
Cirrodrilus makinoi (Yamaguchi, 1934) has not been identified since it was originally described from the Japanese crayfish, Cambaroides japonicus (De Haan, 1841) on Hokkaido Island, northern Japan. A critical morphological comparison of original and new material C. with those closely related tsugarensis Gelder Ohtaka, 2000, Honshu reveals there are no differentiating character to separate two species. molecular study using mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I gene supports this view, therefore, becomes a subjective junior synonym makinoi. Another species resembling makinoi, homodontus Yamaguchi, 1932 is confirmed be distinct both redescribed based material.
