ABSTRACT
In this study we describe a case of neurological leishmaniasis in dog, reported an endemic area, with signs multifocal intracranial lesions involving the vestibular system and cerebellum. Serum biochemistry revealed decrease albumin-globulin ratio caused by increase alfa2-, beta-, gamma- globulin, while antibody titers were highly positive for Leishmania spp. Magnetic resonance images brain consistent granulomatous ammation/infection. Cerebrospinal fluid marked mononuclear pleocytosis was to Pandy Test, as well -speci c polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay. Sequencing PCR products highest similarity several strains belonging infantum / chagasi group. Clinical response treatment systemic supportive diagnosis. This report focuses on atypical form canine suggests that geographic areas has be considered di erential diagnosis manifestations. Also, cerebrospinal liquor should always tested when symptoms are present order erentiate from unrelated patients.
