ABSTRACT
Microarrays provide an unprecedented opportunity for comprehensive concurrent analysis of thousands genes. The global the response genes to a toxic insult (toxicogenomics), as opposed historical method examining few select genes, provides more complete picture toxicologically significant events. Here we examine utility microarrays providing mechanistic insights into cells DNA damage. Our data indicate that value technology is in its potential insight mode action genotoxic compound. Array-based expression profiling may be useful differentiating compounds interact directly with from those are via secondary mechanism. As such, genomic serve valuable alternative methodology helps discriminate between these two classes compounds. Key words: biomarkers, gene profile, genetic toxicology, mechanism action, toxicogenomics.
