ABSTRACT
We attempted to develop a strain of Babesia gibsoni resistant diminazene aceturate (DA), an anti-babesial drug, in vitro. Since the DA-sensitive B. could survive and proliferate culture medium containing 1 ng/m l DA, concentration DA was gradually increased from 200 ng/ml. The results showed that parasites which much higher than 50% inhibitory (IC50) for gibsoni. Subsequently, these were removed erythrocytes exposed directly ng/ml DA. They able invade fresh erythrocytes, though did not survive. Based on results, cultured within determined be DA-resistant strain. In addition, IC50 levels clindamycin, doxycycline pentamidine determined. those greater These indicated have resistance only but also other drugs. conclusion, we successfully developed
