ABSTRACT
Objective: To evaluate health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and self-esteem in patients with traumatic spinal cord injury (SCI) pressure ulcers. Method: This study was a controlled cross-sectional study. HRQoL assessed using the generic Medical Outcomes Study 36-Item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36) questionnaire Rosenberg Self-Esteem/UNIFESP-EPM Scale. A total 120 SCI were included sample, which 60 had ulcers assigned to group, no control group. Statistical analysis performed chi-square test, Fisher's exact Student's t-test. Results: Of 83.3% men mean age 38.17 years (SD = 9.08 years). When compared controls, group reported significantly lower scores (worse health status) on all SF-36 subscales (p≤0.0013) except for general (p=0.109). The RSE/UNIFESP-EMP scale score indicated that than controls (p<0.001). Conclusion: Pressure an adverse impact SCI.
