ABSTRACT
Abstract Grandparents who raise their grandchildren have become more prevalent as an alternate family form that is, by its very nature, intergenerational in character. This paper explores the state of our knowledge about such grandparents light following themes: (1) diversity among grandparent caregivers, (2) importance social support for persons and impact raising a grandchild on relationships with others, (3) theoretical perspectives grandchildren, (4) salience issues related to parenting (5) interventions custodial grandparents. The implications these current future cohorts caregivers are discussed, directions work might take issues.
