ABSTRACT
We investigated the three-dimensional morphological differences of articular surface femoral trochlea in patients with recurrent dislocation patella and a normal control group using computer models. There were 12 (12 knees) ten subjects (ten knees). Three-dimensional models femur, including cartilage, created. Evaluation was performed on shape surface, focused its convexity, proximal mediolateral distribution cartilage trochlea. The extent any expressed as height, shown by angles about transepicondylar axis. assessed location medial lateral borders cartilage. mean convexity 24.9° sd 6.7° for 11.9° 3.6° (p < 0.001). height 91.3° 8.3° 83.3° 7.7° = 0.03), suggesting wider convex caused proximally-extended area. border more laterally located than group. Our findings therefore quantitatively demonstrated between subjects.
