ABSTRACT
Remolded and undisturbed samples of kaolinitic clay were compacted to maximum pressures ranging from 2,000 psi (140 kg/sq cm) 6,500 (455 observe changes in the fabric sample chemistry expelled pore fluid. Samples tested high-pressure equipment specially designed simulate aspects geologic burial. The concentration ions water changed as compaction progressed, major change being concurrent with fall pore-fluid pressure. Crystallization was present pores. development a preferred orientation clearly associated level effective stress. High poorly oriented fabrics incipient fissures.
