ABSTRACT
In China, trace metals (such as dissolved Cu, Zn, Pb, Cd, and Cr) are the routine mandatory monitoring indicators in existing Freshwater Quality Standard (FWQS, 2002) Seawater (SWQS, 1997). Using Daliao River estuary an example, we tried to research general response patterns of these estuarine system. Firstly, determined location FSI (freshwater-seawater interface) TCI (tidal currents interface), which were based on biological, chemical geographic similarities by descriptive quantitative methods, respectively. Secondly, two hypotheses proposed explain difference distribution coefficient Kd along salinity SS (suspended solids) gradient, results revealed that for As, Cd Cr may be prone affected salinity, ones second pattern more sensitive SS. Finally, classified behaviors into changing trends distance magnitudes TCI: 1the obvious boundary break point from Cr; 2 zones Pb Ni. The partitioning showed similar at particle sediment phases, especially phase, depending concentration salinity. between mainly existed water phase. general, this paper highlighted need consider background identified controlled different environment factors SS) native characteristics. Our work will assist implementation updating current quality standards China.
