ABSTRACT
Abstract We measured the bone mineral density (BMD) at various skeletal sites (total body, hip, anteroposterior [AP] and lateral [lat] spine, forearm) in a large population-based cohort of women aged 31–89 years (the OFELY cohort), results were analyzed according to age postmenopausal years. A significant apparent loss was found before menopause cancellous bone, i.e., lat spine Ward's triangle (−10%; p < 0.05–0.001). Cross-sectional analysis indicated that, after menopause, accelerated within 10 following continued thereafter all except AP again elderly menopausal for more than 25 Between 30 80 years, BMD decreased by 15 44% (T score −1.6 −3.4) site. The amount highest when expressed percentage (44%) mid- distal radius number standard deviations from peak mass (−3.4). As result, classified as osteoporotic World Heath Organization, with T ≤−2.5, varied substantially site (37% 46%) (25–31%), intermediate triangle, whole body BMD, lowest content, femoral neck, trochanter (10–12%). In conclusion, this cross-sectional but study suggests that there is moderate premenopausal occurs only most 75 Because highly variable coefficient variation sites, identified being varies widely measurement.
