Optical design and analysis of a two-spherical-mirror-based multipass cell

ABSTRACT
A systematic method for the optical design and analysis of a multipass cell (MPC) with two spherical mirrors is presented. By varying parameters, including distance between mirrors, position incident point, angles, variety dense patterns can be formed on mirrors. Three MPCs exemplary seven circles, rotating triangles, petals are designed built. We compare analyze parameters each MPC respect to volume, path length (OPL), number reflections, stability final spot position. This new type exhibits superior characteristics compactness, long effective OPL, affordable cost, which make it very suitable applications trace gas sensing.
