ABSTRACT
Cervical cancer remains a leading cause of death among women in low-and middle-income countries. Globally, cervical prevention programs are hampered by lack resources, infrastructure, and personnel. We describe multimodal mobile colposcope (MMC) designed to diagnose precancerous lesions at the point-of-care without need for biopsy. The MMC integrates two complementary imaging systems: 1) commercially available 2) high speed, high-resolution, fiber-optic microendoscope (HRME). Combining these image modalities allows, first time, ability locate suspicious using widefield then obtain co-registered high-resolution images across an entire lesion. overcomes limitations alone; can be used guide placement probe clinically regions co-registered, mosaicked effectively increase field view imaging. Representative data collected from patients referred colposcopy Barretos Cancer Hospital Brazil, including 22,800 resolution 9,900 images, illustrate identify abnormal regions, areas with subcellular resolution, distinguish between high-grade low-grade dysplasia.
