ABSTRACT
We design and demonstrate a birefringent Michelson interferometer based interleaver with ultra-low dispersion low cost. The consists of polarizing beam splitters (PBS's) quarter-wave plates half-wave plates. PBS's interferometers provide the optical path difference for interference between two orthogonal polarization components needed to minimize ripple output. designed two-stage in 50 GHz channel spacing application exhibits 0.5 dB passband 25 stopband both 27 GHz; isolation higher than 35 chromatic less ±5 ps/nm within passband; 1.3 insertion loss 0.3 PDL; 0.04 GHz/°C thermal stability. Since all can be optically bonded together, device is robust easy aligned, which reduces labor
