ABSTRACT
A regional near-infrared (NIR) ocean normalized water-leaving radiance (nL(w)(λ)) model is proposed for atmospheric correction color data processing in the western Pacific region, including Bohai Sea, Yellow and East China Sea. Our motivation this work to derive products highly turbid region using Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI) onboard South Korean Communication, Ocean, Meteorological Satellite (COMS). GOCI has eight spectral bands from 412 865 nm but does not have shortwave infrared (SWIR) that are needed satellite remote sensing region. Based on a empirical relationship between NIR nL(w)(λ) diffuse attenuation coefficient at 490 (K(d)(490)), which derived long-term measurements with Moderate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) Aqua satellite, an iterative scheme NIR-based algorithm been developed. Results MODIS-Aqua show new NIR-corrected match well those SWIR algorithm. Thus, method provides alternative (and other sensors without bands) regions of although SWIR-based approach still much preferred. The methodology can also be applied coastal regions.
