ABSTRACT
An invariant imbedding T-matrix (II-TM) method is used to calculate the single-scattering properties of 8-column aggregate ice crystals. The II-TM based backscatter values are compared with those calculated by improved geometric-optics (IGOM) refine backscattering cloud radiative model in MODIS Collection 6 optical property product. The integrated attenuated backscatter-tocloud depth (IAB-ICOD) relation derived from simulations using a CALIPSO (Cloud-Aerosol Lidar and Infrared Pathfinder Satellite) lidar simulator on Monte Carlo transfer model.By comparing simulation results co-located (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) observations, non-uniform zonal distribution clouds over ocean characterized terms mixture smooth rough particles. The percentage particles approximately 6% 9% for tropical midlatitude clouds, respectively.
