ABSTRACT
Space domain is regarded as the only known physical dimension left of lightwave to exploit in optical communications. Recently, lots research efforts have been devoted using spatial modes fibers increase data transmission capacity fiber In this paper, we propose and demonstrate a different approach exploiting space dimension, i.e. transferring image by encoding/decoding superpositions km-scale few-mode fiber. Three grayscale images are successfully transmitted through 1.1-km employing either 4 modes, three linearly polarized (LP) LP01, LP11a, LP11b one orbital angular momentum (OAM) mode OAM-1, or 2 (OAM+1, OAM-1). The bit-error rate evaluated zero error among all received achieved, showing favorable link communication performance for encoding/decoding. Moreover, also (LP01, OAM-1) transfer 10-km experiment.
