ABSTRACT
We present a foveated rendering method to accelerate the amplitude-only computer-generated hologram (AO-CGH) calculation in holographic near-eye 3D display. For given target image, we compute high-resolution foveal region and low-resolution peripheral with dramatically reduced pixel numbers. Our technique significantly improves computation speed of AO-CGH while maintaining perceived image quality fovea. Moreover, accommodate eye gaze angle change, develop an algorithm laterally shift negligible extra computational cost. holds great promise advancing display real-time use.
