ABSTRACT
Atmospheric turbulence can generate scintillation or beam wandering phenomena that impairs free space optical (FSO) communication. In this paper, we propose and demonstrate a proof-of-concept FSO communication receiver based on spatial demultiplexer photonic integrated circuit coherent combiner. The collects the light from several Hermite Gauss modes coherently combine chip energy different into single output. is characterized with wavefront emulator bench generates arbitrary phase intensity patterns. multimode presents strong resilience to distortions, compared monomode receiver. system then used detect an analog modulation of through random profile mimic transmission signal degraded link.
