Local Oscillator Phase Noise Induced Penalties in Optical Coherent Detection Systems Using Electronic Chromatic Dispersion Compensation

We show that chromatic dispersion induced local oscillator (LO) phase noise to amplitude conversion significantly degrades the performance of a high-speed coherent system without optical compensation and tightens requirement on LO linewidth.
