ABSTRACT
We report on a modified sol-gel method combined with an innovative high-temperature melting technology for the preparation of Yb3+-doped silica glass rods (∅3−18 mm) high optical quality and low background loss. prepared Al-Yb, Al-P-Yb, Al-F-Yb, Al-P-F-Yb doped large mode area fibers (LMA) laser power core numerical aperture (0.02). were able to successfully solve doping homogeneity problem caused by volatility P F. More importantly, we developed purification reduced attenuation 0.05 dB/m. An Al-Yb co-doped photonic crystal fiber (PCF) diameter 100 µm was fabricated behaviour characterization. In continuous wavelength measurement, output slope efficiency 83.3% obtained from PCF. To our knowledge, this is highest derived PCF non-CVD method. pulse amplification experiment, average amplified 310 W peak 1.5 MW duration 21 ps achieved.
