ABSTRACT
The highly efficient coupling of light from conventional optical components to mode volumes lies in the heart chip-based micro-devices, which is determined by phase-matching between propagation constants fiber taper and whispering-gallery-mode (WGM) resonator. Optical gyroscopes, typically realized as fiber-optic gyroscopes ring-laser have been mainstay diverse applications such positioning inertial sensing. Here, theoretically analyzed experimentally verified. We observe Sagnac effect a millimeter-scale wedged resonator gyroscope has attracted considerable attention rapidly promoted recent years. demonstrate bidirectional pump probe scheme, directly measures frequency beat caused effect. establish linear response detected rotation velocity. clockwise counterclockwise can also be distinguished according value beat. experimental results verify feasibility developing WGM system pave way for future development.
