ABSTRACT
Background MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have emerged as important gene regulators and are recognized key players in tumorigenesis. miR-145 is reported to be down-regulated several cancers, but knowledge of its targets colon cancer remains limited. Methodology/Principal Findings To investigate the role cancer, we employed a microarray based approach identify targets. Based on seed site enrichment analyses unbiased word analyses, found significant miRNA binding sites 3′-untranslated regions (UTRs) transcripts upon overexpression. Gene Ontology analysis showed an overrepresentation genes involved cell death, cellular growth proliferation, cycle, expression cancer. A number identified previously been implicated including YES, FSCN1, ADAM17, BIRC2, VANGL1 well transcription factor STAT1. Both YES STAT1 were verified direct Conclusions/Significance The study identifies validates new cancer-relevant cells hereby adds mechanistic understanding tumor-suppressive functions miR-145.
