ABSTRACT
This paper reports the effect of soda-lime-glass-nAg coating on viability an in vitro biofilm Streptococcus oralis. Three strains (ATCC 35037 and two clinical isolates from periodontitis patients) were grown coated with glass, glass containing silver nanoparticles, uncoated titanium alloy disks. Two different methods used to quantify formation abilities: crystal violet staining determination viable counts. The influence surface morphology cell attachment was studied. characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) using a profilometer. SEM also study development At least >99.7% inocula reduction respect disks observed glass-nAg for all studied strains. A quantitative evaluation release conducted test whether what extend biocidal agent (silver) could leach coating. These findings suggest that S. oralis is highly inhibited may be useful materials which require durable antibacterial their surfaces, as it case dental implants.
