ABSTRACT
Chitosan, a natural polysaccharide comprising copolymers of glucosamine and N-acetylglucosamine, has been shown to have anti-obesity properties. Two experiments (Exp. 1 Exp. 2) were performed determine the role chitosan on dietary intake, body weight gain, fat deposition in pig model, as well identifying potential mechanisms underlying effect chitosan. In 1, nutrient digestibility experiment, 16 pigs (n = 4/treatment) randomly allocated one four treatments follows: 1) basal diet; diet plus 300 ppm chitosan; 3) 600 4) 1200 The main observation was that crude lower group when compared with control (P<0.05). 2, total 80 20/treatment) offered identical animals 1. Blood samples collected day 0, 35 at end experiment (day 57). Animals diets containing had daily intake (P<0.001) gain from 57 all other treatment groups. significantly final (P<0.01) decreased observed associated increased serum leptin concentrations decrease C-reactive protein (CRP) conclusion, results this study highlight novel endocrine involving modulation CRP by which exhibits properties vivo.
