ABSTRACT
Many challenges exist in improving early osseointegration, one of the most critical factors long-term clinical success dental implants. Recently, ultraviolet (UV) light-mediated photofunctionalization titanium as a new potential surface treatment has aroused great interest. This study examines bioactivity surfaces treated with UV light different wavelengths and underlying associated mechanism. Micro-arc oxidation (MAO) samples were pretreated UVA (peak wavelength 360 nm) or UVC 250 for up to 24 h. promoted attachment, spread, proliferation differentiation MG-63 osteoblast-like cells on surface, well capacity apatite formation simulated body fluid (SBF). These biological influences not observed after treatment, apart from weaker effect formation. The enhanced was substantially correlated amount Ti-OH groups, which play an important role hydrophilicity, along removal hydrocarbons surface. Our results showed that both irradiation altered chemical properties without sacrificing its excellent physical characteristics, suggesting this technology extensive applications merits further investigation.
