ABSTRACT
There is absence of specific biomarkers and an incomplete understanding the pathophysiology exudative age-related macular degeneration (AMD).Eighty-eight vitreous samples (73 from patients with treatment naïve AMD 15 control idiopathic floaters) were analyzed capillary electrophoresis coupled to mass spectrometry in this retrospective case series define potential candidate protein markers AMD. Nineteen proteins found be upregulated patients. Most plasma derived involved biological (ion) transport, acute phase inflammatory reaction, blood coagulation. A number have not been previously associated including alpha-1-antitrypsin, fibrinogen alpha chain prostaglandin H2-D isomerase. Alpha-1-antitrypsin was validated independent set using Western blot analysis. Further systems biology analysis data indicated that observed proteomic changes may reflect upregulation immune response complement activity.Proteome AMD, which underwent intravitreal combination therapy a core vitrectomy, steroids bevacizumab, revealed apparent AMD-specific changes. The identified AMD-associated provide some insight into pathophysiological
