ABSTRACT
The edible mushroom Volvariella volvacea is an important crop in Southeast Asia and predominantly harvested the egg stage. One of main factors that negatively affect its yield value rapid transition from to elongation stage, which has a decreased commodity shelf life. To improve our understanding changes during stipe development stage particular, we analyzed gene transcription tissue V. using 3′-tag based digital expression profiling. Stipe turned out be fairly complex with high numbers expressed genes, regulation differences mediated mainly by levels rather than on/off modulation. Most explicit strong up-regulation cell division button egg, very down-regulation hereof elongation, continues maturation Button share as means growth, followed major developmental shift towards on extension demonstrated inactivation throughout maturation. Examination regulatory genes up-regulated identified three potential upstream regulators for this switch. new insights dynamics, together series target will provide sound base further studies mechanisms stipes switch particular.
