ABSTRACT
The RESPONSIVE TO DEHYDRATION 22 (RD22) gene is a molecular link between abscisic acid (ABA) signalling and abiotic stress responses. Its expression has been used as reliable ABA early response marker. In Arabidopsis, the single copy RD22 possesses BURP domain also located at C-terminus of USP embryonic proteins beta subunit polygalacturonases. grapevine, identified but putative paralogs are found in grape genome, possibly forming large family this species. work, we searched for annotations containing domains Vitis vinifera genome. Nineteen were defined by comparative analysis two genome predictions RNA-Seq data. These sequences compared to other plant BURPs previous surveys allowing us reconceive group classifications based on phylogenetic relationships protein motif occurrence. We observed lineage-specific evolution family, with biggest expansion grapevine poplar. contrast, rice, sorghum maize presented highly expanded monocot-specific groups. may have from segmental duplications most its members confined region chromosome 4. inspection transcriptomic data revealed variable genes vegetative reproductive organs. Many induced specific tissues or biotic stresses. Three further studied showing that they responded oppositely conditions. Our results show inclusion essential while describing families improving annotations. Robust analyses including all sequenced species helped redefine erroneously established. This work provides additional evidence serving marker different organs stresses grapevine.
