ABSTRACT
Evaluation of soil quality can be crucial for designing efficient farming systems and ensuring sustainable agriculture. The present study aimed at evaluating the waterlogged purple paddy soils with different productivities in Sichuan Basin. approach involved comprehensive analyses physical chemical properties, as well enzyme activities microbial community structure measured by phospholipid fatty acid analysis (PLFA). A total 36 samples were collected from four typical locations, 12 representing high productivity (HPPS), medium (MPPS) low (LPPS), respectively. Most properties showed significant differences (P ≤ 0.05) among HPPS, MPPS LPPS. Pearson correlation principal component used to identify appropriate indicators. minimum data set (MDS) including nitrogen (TN), available phosphorus (AP), phosphatase (ACP), bacteria (TB) arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi was established accounted 82.1% variation soils. index (SQI) developed based on MDS method, whilst LPPS received mean SQI scores 0.725, 0.536 0.425, respectively, a ranking HPPS > relatively good characterized optimal nutrient availability, enzymatic activities, but opposite true Low levels TN, AP considered major constraints limiting All rich N, K, Si Zn, deficient P, which may constraint studied regions. Managers our area should employ more management improve its rice productivity, particularly any potential factor.
