ABSTRACT
Background Vascular calcification is associated with structural and functional abnormality of the heart blood vessels. We investigated relationship between intradialytic hypotension (IDH) vascular in hemodialysis (HD) patients, their impacts on cardiovascular events (CVEs). Method enrolled 191 maintenance HD patients who underwent plain abdomen radiography for abdominal aortic score (AACS). A nadir systolic pressure (BP) < 90 mm Hg or requirement bolus fluid administration was required to quantify diagnosis. IDH defined as > 2 episodes during 10 treatments. Results Among occurred 32. AACS higher group compared no-IDH (8.4 ± 6.0 vs. 4.9 5.2, respectively; P = 0.001). High an independent risk factor after adjustment age, diabetes mellitus, ultrafiltration, diastolic BP, calcium level (odds ratio (OR) 1.09, 95% CI 1.01–1.18; 0.03). Patients both ≧ 4 had highest cumulative CVE rate (27.9%, 0.008) 11.2%, 12.5%, 6% those only, neither, respectively. In multivariate analysis, presence a significant predictor (hazard (HR) 2.84, 1.04–7.74, 0.04). Conclusion IDH. Both high were predictors CVE.
