ABSTRACT
Breast cancer is the most prevalent among women, with basal-like triple negative (TNBC) being agressive one, displaying poorest prognosis within ductal carcinoma subtype. Due to lack of adequate molecular targets, diagnosis and treatment patients TNBC phenotype has been a great challenge. In previous work, we identified CD90/Thy-1 as highly expressed in aggressive high malignancy grade Hs578T breast tumor cell line, pointing this molecule promising marker, which should be further investigated. Here, CD90 expression was analyzed human samples its functional role investigated better assess oncogenic nature mammary cells. Quantification samples, by tissue microarray, showed that positivity correlates metastasis poor patient survival The genetic approach, overexpression cDNA normal line (MCF10A) knockdown malignant (Hs578T), allowed us demonstrate involved several cellular processes lead transformation, such as: morphological change, increased proliferation, invasiveness, activation EGFR pathway. Therefore, our results reveal transformation lines correlated subtype, considered new target.
