Central serous chorioretinopathy with and without steroids: A multicenter survey

ABSTRACT
We investigated the rates of use steroids in Japanese central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) cases and differences characteristics CSC with without steroids. A total 538 eyes 477 patients diagnosed CSC, 3 months or more follow-up between April 2013 June 2017 at 8 institutions. Patients than were identified by OCT fluorescein angiography Data collected included patient demographics, history corticosteroid medication smoking, spherical errors, findings angiography, subfoveal choroidal thickness, changes through period. Differences these analyzed treatment. Among (344 men,133 women), 74 (15.5%) (39 men, 35 women) underwent current prior steroid Cases higher age (p = 0.0403) showed no male prevalence, bilateral involvement < 0.0001), affected had multiple pigment epithelial detachment <0.0001), leakage sites greater thickness 0.0287) a recurrence rate 0.0412). Steroids can cause severer an effect on vessels impairment retinal epithelium.
