ABSTRACT
Most deciduous fruit trees cultivated in the temperate zone require a genotype-dependent amounts of chilling exposure for dormancy release and bud break. In Japanese apricot (Prunus mume), DORMANCY-ASSOCIATED MADS-box 6 (PmDAM6) may influence chilling-mediated this study, we attempted to elucidate biological functions PmDAM6 related regulation by analyzing PmDAM6-overexpressing transgenic apple (Malus spp.). We generated 35S:PmDAM6 lines chemically inducible overexpression lines, 35S:PmDAM6-GR. both shoot growth was inhibited early set observed. addition, expression repressed break competency during delayed Moreover, increased abscisic acid levels decreased cytokinins contents late stages Our analysis also suggested that but subsequently whereas stage dormant buds. previously revealed is continuously down-regulated toward apricot. The pattern concurrent with decrease increase contents, respectively, Therefore, hypothesize represses modulating accumulation
