Effect of a multidisciplinary end-of-life educational intervention on health and social care professionals: A cluster randomized controlled trial

ABSTRACT
Background The aging of populations is rapidly accelerating worldwide. Especially, Japan has maintained the highest rate population As countermeasures, Japanese government prioritized promotion local comprehensive care systems and collaboration in medical social (long-term) care. Development a system to connect services community necessary for increasing older people, especially people stage end life. Objective This study aimed assess effect multidisciplinary end-of-life educational intervention program on confidence inter-professional job satisfaction among health professionals. Design cluster-randomized controlled trial Setting/Participants Three professional groups (home nurses, managers, heads workers) an urban area participated this trial. Intervention We implemented comprising two workshops booklet support patients during 7-month period. Main outcome measure Confidence improved interactions professionals were assessed with Face-to-Face Cooperative Questionnaire Minnesota Satisfaction at T1 (before intervention) T2 (7 months after intervention). Results In total, 291 (experimental group n = 156; control 135). Multivariate regression analyses showed significant between-group increases all seven subscales participants' face-to-face cooperative over period; no was evident regarding satisfaction.
