ABSTRACT
Traditional urodynamics have poor correlation with urological symptoms. Ambulatory may improve this but the need for a transurethral catheter and time-consuming nature of examination limits its use. Therefore, objective study was to develop wireless real-time bladder pressure measurement device repeated prolonged-term behavior in awake pigs. The Bladder Pill is an intravesical microsensor 3-dimensional inductive coupling coil energy supply. A corresponding external provides power transmission communication data. To test between data measured by standard methods, we compared static water column pressures water-filled urodynamic systems. In vivo assessment voiding pill done introducing into Göttingen minipigs. An air-charged introduced transurethrally as control measurements. optimal physical configuration investigated maximize containment bladder. We used two versions signal receivers (one waistband one rectangular frame) capture. Next that, performed short-term medium-term comparative studies. vitro demonstrated mean difference less than 1 cm H2O methods. design maximal retainment proved be pigtail configuration. bending during contractions caused offset 2.7 +/- 1.4 (mean SD) on frame capture 5 consecutive voids good can inserted through urethra retrieved using string or endoscopic extraction. conclusion, long-term yields comparable results current available methods pig model.
