ABSTRACT
HIV-1 infection is characterized by generalized deregulation of the immune system, resulting in increased chronic activation. However, some individuals called HIV controllers (HICs) present spontaneous control viral replication and have a more preserved system. Among HICs, discordant results been observed regarding activation frequency different T cell subsets, including Treg Th17 cells. We evaluated activation, differentiation regulatory profiles two groups HICs—elite (ECs) viremic (VCs)—and compared them to those cART-treated (cART) HIV-1-negative (HIV-neg) individuals. ECs demonstrated similar levels activated CD4+ CD8+ cells comparison HIV-neg, while cART VCs showed elevated subset analyses differences only for transitional memory between EC HIV-neg groups.
