ABSTRACT
Objective Considering the high rejection rates of upper limb prostheses, it is important to determine which prosthesis fits best needs each user. The introduction multi-grip prostheses hands (MHP), have functional advantages but are also more expensive, has made selection even harder. Therefore, we aimed identify user opinions on factors determining choice persons with major unilateral defects in order facilitate a optimal fit between and prosthesis. Methods A qualitative meta-synthesis using 'best-fit framework' approach was performed by searching five databases (PROSPERO registration number: CRD42019126973). Studies were considered eligible if they contained content about adults experienced commercially available focused users' opinions. Results validated end-users (n = 11) focus group. Out 6247 articles, 19 studies included. An overview six main themes ('physical', 'activities participation', 'mental', 'social', 'rehabilitation, cost prosthetist services' 'prosthesis related factors') containing 86 subthemes that could affect created. Of these subthemes, added Important 'work/school', 'functionality' 'reactions from public'. Opinions MHP-users scarce. MHPs as dexterous life-like less robust difficult control. Conclusion huge number explains preferences vary greatly. created can be great value user-involvement process. Ultimately, this may contribute successful match prosthesis, resulting decrease abandonment increase cost-effectiveness.
