ABSTRACT
The non-pharmacological pain management therapies have a valuable effect in managing moderate to mild intensity, especially if demonstrated the pre-operative phase. study aimed explore nurses' practice toward using techniques surgical wards. In cross-sectional research design, convenient sample of 47 nurses wards Egyptian hospital (Third Level) participated study. Data gathered modified Non-pharmacological Methods Questionnaire. Results indicated that nurse's perception regarding applying cognitive-behavioral methods as distraction and Positive reinforcement were more common (68.1%,53.2%), whereas most them used emotional support (93.6%) preferred demonstrate physical methods. Meanwhile, addressed barriers apply nonpharmacological lack time, patient unwillingness, patients' health beliefs. Nevertheless, reported is less expensive has fewer side effects than medication can post-discharge. Nurses play key role effective different Thus, should be encouraged with patients undergoing procedures.
