Differences in thinking flexibility between novices and experts based on eye tracking

The influence of thinking flexibility on design is often underestimated by researchers in the field education. In this study, morphological analysis was used as a tool to develop proposals and eye tracking technology applied track attention. feature activities problem-solving between two groups (novice expert) analyzed Heat map Gaze plot qualitative, measured indicators such fixation saccade quantitative. Findings suggested that, i) Experts showed more duration numbers activities, attention containing AOIs positively related rationality scheme. ii) Saccades with greater amplitude were beneficial novelty iii) considered information each block balanced way, while novices tended ignore unimportant blocks. These results will have far-reaching impact development designers' help exercise creative produce high-quality designs.
