ABSTRACT
Introduction Mental distress is a collection of mental health abnormalities characterized by symptoms anxiety, depression, insomnia, fatigue, irritability, forgetfulness, difficulty in concentrating, and somatic symptoms. It affects society as whole no group immune to distress; however, students have significantly high level than their community peers. The study aimed assess the magnitude associated factors among school medicine college sciences students. Objective To at Debre Markos University, 2021. Methods Institution-based cross-sectional design was employed from March 15–29, A simple random sampling technique used select 475 participants. binary logistic regression model identify with distress. Variables p-value less 0.25 bivariable analysis were entered into multivariable P-Value 0.05 considered having statistically significant association. Result found be 35.4%, 95%CI (31%, 40%). Female sex [AOR = 1.95; (1.24–3.06)], financial distress[AOR 1.64; (1.062.54)], feeling insecurity 2.49; 95% CI (1.13–3.54)], lack interest department 2.00; (1.75–4.36)] cumulative grade point average expected 2.63; (1.59–4.37)]were variables Conclusion high. Sex, distress, insecurity, department, so special attention on promotion required policymakers, officials, parents, other Non-Governmental organizations.
